All of Lafreniere Park is a dedicated bird sanctuary and Marsh Island abounds in lots of other Louisiana vegetation and animal life. It's a favorite spot for feeding resident swans, ducks and geese. An elevated walkway leads to a gazebo. There is a 20-acre lagoon that stretches through various areas of the park, and has turtles and several species of fish as well as ducks and geese. This is a beautiful location if you don’t want the hustle of the city.
